Will credit cards soon become the card of the "past", since many are switching over to deb

Current data suggests that debit cards are more popular with consumers than credit cards. A recent TNS Financial Services Consumer Credit Card Program Study indicated that over 60 percent of consumers prefer using debit cards to credit cards as a payment vehicle, because debit feels more like %26quot;real money.%26quot;

There are reasons that debit cards have become the plastic of choice for many consumers. Debit card payments come out of a checking account immediately, alleviating concerns over credit card bills and interest rates. Since debit cards are linked to a checking account, they can limit purchases to items cardholders are able to pay for at that moment, unlike credit cards. As such, debit cards may be a good option for those Americans that are carrying a debt load.

I think credit cards will be around for a long time.

You can actually make money by always paying your credit cards in full before the due date and then cash in on the cash rewards programs.

I have 2 credit cards that I use every month for just about everything, pay them in full every month and last year they paid me over $300.00 so I could use their money interest free.

they prefer debit card to credit cards because.... if you use debit cards - that means you have money in your checking account --- so, of course everybody prefers having money in their checking account.

and no, credit cards will always be around...because there is always somebody that needs money - and doesn%26#039;t have it on hand.

i%26#039;ve never been a credit card person - but, sometimes in life - you might need it.

The only people debit cards are %26#039;new%26#039; for is the US. The rest of the industrialized nations have had these for awhile.

Personally we have our bank debit card, as well as a CC through our bank as well. We use the CC to collect points. Also our bank account has a fee for maximum # of transactions so using the CC allows us to avoid these monthly fees.

I only use my credit card because i get rewards. And i never keep a balance or pay them anything for interest. People who cant budget themselves using a credit card are dumb.

edit: i think i am ive been paid over 350 over the last 2 years to use other people%26#039;s money for free.

People will always need credit for unexpected expenses. Some people carry less cash and carry a debit card that is re-loadable or a debit card you get through a bank account.

As long as there are people willing to buy stuff with money they don%26#039;t have, and don%26#039;t have the patience to save-now-buy-later, there will be credit cards.
