Credit card crisis?

My dad got two credit cards with my name on them.. its like a joined line thing where he gets one too. I%26#039;m under 18 [I%26#039;m 17 fyi] but I%26#039;m sure I was supposed to sign something that is supposed to allow me to get a credit card even if it%26#039;s a joined account. The thing is that I didn%26#039;t but yet I still got one so I am thinking that my dad signed for me without my permission. He gave me the card for a little bit but now he took my card away and I%26#039;m afraid that because my name is on the account, if my dad were to buy anything and not pay for it, I will be the one in debt with his bills. My mom has said that before he has gotten linked accounts with her and would pretty much max out his cards and she would end up paying for the bills. I don%26#039;t want that to happen to me. How can I save myself from getting into debt trouble that I have nothing to do with? Who can help me? Thanks in advance.

Credit card crisis?

It%26#039;s all depend on how he signed up for it. If he did the joint application , then you both will be liable for the debt (like you are the co-signer). But if he asked for an additional card to give you to, then you will not be responsibled for it (here you are just an authorized user).

You might want to call the bank/credit card issuer and ask them if you are a co-signer or just an authorized user on the account, if they tell you that you are a co-signer, ask them how you can cancel the card.

The same thing happened to me. Go to a lawyer and prove fraud, and go from there.

If you are 17 , then the credit card %26quot;contract%26quot; is null and void. You cant enter into a contract if you are under 8yrs. You need to show this to the credit card companies and have it removed from your credit.

Credit card crisis?

wow, that sucks.

Call the card company and tell the what the problem is and ask them to cancel the credit card.

Contact the credit agencies and have them put a fraud alert on your account so that no new credit can be opened up in your name...

Call the credit card company. Your dad is not doing you a favor either. This looks like fraud to me and I bet he forged your name as well.
