College student... $7,000 credit card bill. HELP!?

So I%26#039;ve never had ANY debt at all besides student loans but i%26#039;m not even putting those into account til i get out of school because i have until then to begin paying those off. plus i%26#039;ve been super lucky and my parents have taken out as big of parent plus loans as they could to pay for my college besides what those did not cover. ANYWAY i took a year off from school and got a full time job in retail for something to do while taking my time off. i%26#039;m an idiot and got a credit card; didn%26#039;t think and spent a lot more than i made. now i%26#039;m back in school and have $7,000 debt to pay off with NO job. my schedule doesn%26#039;t even allow for part time because i%26#039;m in a high demanding program, dental school. to make matters worse, i go year round for the next two years to get done quicker. my credit card is interest free but that ends this november. i don%26#039;t want to tell my parents this because it%26#039;s not their responsibility. any student loan i can take out that i won%26#039;t have to pay til i graduate? HELP!

well the first thing to do would be get that paid off fast (tell your parents even though they might kill you). and then promise to pay back every single penny (plus interest if you want to show that you are taking matters into your own hands, sorta) and then cancel the credit card and think of this instance when you want another card. good luck!

taking out another loan with however many student loans you have out is bad business to pay off debt already added up... ahh I love how easily it is to get a credit card when you are a college student they so hose college kids into debt so young.... tell your parents and get it paid off or let it go into collections and ruin your credit at a young age your call

Sorry, you are going to have to face the music. You need to get a part time job, no matter how little time you have and start paying something towards your debt. Otherwise it%26#039;s telling your parents that your an moron and ask for help. Using the student loan to pay your debt is illegal. Step up and be an adult. It won%26#039;t be easy but it will teach you a valuable lesson and that is what life%26#039;s about.

If you are stuck and can%26#039;t pay your credit card you really should come clean with your parents that%26#039;s what their there for to help you learn from the mistakes you make and if they can%26#039;t help you no one else will, maybe they will pay it of and you pay them back like its a loan either as you study or when you are finish.I wouldn%26#039;t like my kids to hide this problem from me as you can get yourself in all sorts of credit debt trouble which will affect the rest of your financial life if its not fixed,

You already realize you screwed yourself on this one, which is good, it means you hopefully will learn from this. This problem later in life means losing your car, garnished wages, losing your home...etc. At least as a student, you can cop out and ask for help from your parents - because if you want to maintain your credit rating, you will need their help.

Either get them to co-sign a loan and make min payments, or get them to pay the amount and pay them back, with interest if they ask. I know it%26#039;s not their problem you didn%26#039;t understand want verses need, but technically, this is something parents should teach their kids - and if you have loving parents who can help, be very thankful. Not many of us do.

The card you have sounds like a store card - don%26#039;t pay for x# of months? Whatever you do, get the balance of the card before November. Store cards feature the highest rates of all creditor, averaging around 28%.

If you don%26#039;t get your parents to help, you%26#039;re still going to face a myriad of problems. Even though you have no job, you still *will need* to make the minimum payments on time. That doesn%26#039;t mean you%26#039;ll be in the clear either - when a creditor sees your just paying the bare min they will reprice your account with a higher interest rate. They all do it. You may think this is unfair, but sadly, this is what you agreed for when you signed the back of that card. Credit card companies take advantage of our ignorance because we ultimately let them.

BTW you%26#039;re going to have to make timely monthly payments in order to keep that promotion on the account. Yes, no interest is a promotion, I don%26#039;t care what the rep said, it%26#039;s how promotions work, period.

Good luck.

Now that you know the dangers of credit never play with it again!

Listen up bud, you need a part time job. I don%26#039;t care how demanding your dental program is. You need to deliver pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights. That%26#039;s right tough guy, no more social life for you until that debt is paid off!

Don%26#039;t say that you don%26#039;t have time to work like that. I bet you have time to go out with friends on the weekends. If that%26#039;s the case then you should be working and not socializing.

If you%26#039;re fortunate, you%26#039;re in a very populated area and can start tutoring high school students. In North Atlanta, an in home Algebra 2 tutor can charge $45 / hour easily. You%26#039;re in dental school so you%26#039;re probably smart enough to do something like that.

Man, I just gave you a plan: tutor high school kids 2 hours / week that will give you an extra $300 or so a month. Deliver Pizzas on the weekends should give you another extra $500/month. In 10 months, you%26#039;re out of credit card debt.

One more thing, I highly recommend that you do a small group Bible study offered by Dave Ramsey or Crown. My wife and I did Crown 8 years ago. Today, we are absolutely debt free including the house. No house payment, no car payment, no credit card payments. The money that we make, we give it away, save it, live off of it and have fun with it. We are FREE because we are debt free. My friend, you are a slave. But you too can be free.

One solution is get another credit card that offer 0% interest for 12 months or a low interest credit card that stays low for the life of the balance. Chase has 1 that offers 0% for 1 year and the Blue from AmEx which offers 4.99% for the life of the balance, which is as good as you can get. This is better than getting student loan which may charge higher interest. To learn more or apply this or other offers, u may go here: http://www.explorecreditcard.com/balance...
