Why do credit card companies increase your credit limit?

I have had this happen to me, I paid off one card at one bank and my other bank find out that I pay a credit card off. So they would take the credit balance from that credit card and apply it to my credit card that I have with them. I ask them to remove the credit balance from my credit card. I seem like they are trying to keep people in debt. What a shame!

They are hoping you spend more so they can make more interest money. Credit cards don%26#039;t put people in debt...people do that to themselves.

They increase your line because your credit is improving and they value you as a customer. It doesn%26#039;t cost you anything if you just keep the extra available for emergencies.

I could buy a car with several of my cards, but I don%26#039;t borrow just because I can.
