and they pay my creditors my worry is about getting a CCJ and i want to know how you get a CCJ and how affects you in the long run as i am doing a spouse visa next year and dont want to end up with a criminal record or bad record that may refuse my partner into the uk.
I currently have 2 credit cards that are within a debt management program and i pay them on time every month?
Debts aren%26#039;t criminal offences, so if you get a CCJ although it will damage your credit badly for years, it won%26#039;t give you a criminal record! Debts are civil matters, so although CCJ%26#039;s are given in court, its not the same as if you break the law.
I don%26#039;t think it would have an affect on your Visa, they aren%26#039;t taken as badly as they used to be now, as so many people have them!
However, you really don%26#039;t want to get one, as it will damage your credit for a number of years, which is a real pain! If you%26#039;re paying your debts on time though, you should run no risk of getting one. If the worst comes to the worst and you do get one, if you pay off the sum in the month after its granted, its revoked, so if you could borrow the money from someone you could get rid of it.

First of all you are wasting money on a DMP cos youre being charged. See if the card firms will let you carry on paying a bit more (the fee you save) and ditch the DMP if they say yes. Youll get them paid quicker.
Anyone you owe money to can take you to court if you dont pay what you should pay. So your card firms can take court action. All that would happen is you would ask the court if you could carry on making reduced payments and they would most likely say yes. You will not get a criminal record if they take you to court, it will be a civil matter.
Any default will show on your credit record for six years, whatever you do now, so you will have bad credit for a while, but then it should get back to normal

I am in a Debt management plan but don%26#039;t pay for a fee the one I am with is a registered charity set up by some of the finance companies (Consumer Credit Counselling Service).
I have been on it for 2 years and have just found out that to be honest I have been wasting my time making reduced payments as they have now put a default on two of my accounts as the bank concerned made an Admin error (it should have only been for six months this plan!!) and %26quot;won%26#039;t back date the interest %26quot; (wasn%26#039;t that so kind of them). They are now putting interest onto the cards again and I have to wait until its processed, I have been told the debts will be passed onto another company who will continue with my payments but won%26#039;t add interest. The bank told me various strongly worded letters would arrive which I could ignore as these were standard procedure before the new company took over.
I can see how people become suicidal with these matters as I am a pretty strong person but it does get stressful. My problems occurred because of a divorce and he is better of now that I am !! If this stays as it is I will be 56 before they are all paid off, great !!
So I would be just aware of your situation I would investigate going to someone like the CCCS so that you aren%26#039;t paying a fee or have a word with citizens advice. The banks told me as long as I keep paying my reduced amounts then I will not have a problem. They won%26#039;t accept reduced payments without a third party being involved so don%26#039;t be surprised if they tell you they won%26#039;t deal with you without the Debt Management Company its to do with the legal process.
They don%26#039;t like taking you to court because they may not get a lot of money back !! So work out your budget have a word with someone and don%26#039;t stop making your payments thats when the trouble would start.
By the way I pay mine %26quot;on time%26quot; every month via the CCCS but apparently although this is the agreed date my payments are still classed as late by the banks !!
