How easily can UK credit card company trace you regarding previous debts?

All from more than 5 years ago when younger. Have spent most of that abroad, but been back in the UK for more than a year now. Had no problem opening a new bank account at the same address I was at before. Is it just a matter of time before they track me down, or do they write it off as a bad debt sooner or later?

Credit card companies are forgiving. They will check your credit and give you a chance at a higher interest rate or with greater penalties for late payments etc. They are hoping you will be late and pay interest etc because that is how they make their money. I pay my credit card on time and I can get a card any time with low interest charges because I pay and they make minimal money off me.
