In the state NORTH CAROLINA, am I responsible for my wife%26#039; s debt (personal loans and credit cards) ?
i am not so sure about the previous post? i believe that n.c. is still a community property state? you really need to seek the legal advice of a qualified attorney?? good luck!

No. You should research the spousal relief act. It protects individuals from responsibility for debts run up by their spouse when it is done without their knowledge or consent; i.e. if you are not on the account or an authorized user.

I agree with the poster that advised seeking legal advice on this one. In the event that your current budget doesn%26#039;t include atty fees, check with the Legal Aid Society in your city (if you have one there - I%26#039;m from another state), and if that isn%26#039;t an option, check with your local university law school. Most, if not all, have legal clinics set up that are staffed by senior law students who offer limited assistance to the public for free. Hope this helps.
