OK, I kind of destroyed my credit when I was younger. I lived off credit cards and didn%26#039;t pay things on time. I moved around allot too and honestly, I don%26#039;t know how much I owe and to who, what閳ユ獨 in collections, and how bad my credit is. Now that im older and more responsible I really want to fix it. Are there any reputable places that do debt consolidation? I閳ユ獡 looking for a company that will find out what I owe, negotiate w/ them, and give me a monthly payment. I appreciate any help I can get. Debt consolidation is not necessary and really should be avoided, if you can. This is something you can do on your own without paying someone to do it for you.

First you need to find out who you owe. You can do that by getting your free credit report through the first site below (totally free, no-strings-attached). If it%26#039;s not on your credit report, don%26#039;t worry about it - it won%26#039;t show up when you apply for credit either (let sleeping dogs lie).

Now that you know who you owe, you need to contact them and work out a payment plan that YOU can live with. That means setting a budget (ugly word, I know, but if you don%26#039;t tell your money where to go, it will just leave!) Once you know how much you have available to pay towards old debts and to whom you owe money, you%26#039;re ready to go.

Look online for debt consolidation, or debt counsiling. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of them out there. Try looking in your local yellow pages for them first to find one thats local to you.

Go to a book store and buy a book on how to fix credit. follow the guide lines on mailing the letters out or you can do it online. first you need to order your credit reports from the credit bureaus it will cost about $30 dollars. It worked for me. I raised my score 150 points in just over a year.

If you have been employed and paying taxes for a length, apply for a high-risk card. Your creditors may never find you. I%26#039;m serious!

I had a repo on my score... 15 years later I still have not paid the repo off, in fact I wouldn%26#039;t know who to pay. But over the last 2 years I got a high risk card, paid it off, got a few others, paid them off, and now I have decent enough credit to secure a 2% interest car loan. Good luck.
