I owe a credita card money and they had sent my debt to a collections agency. Well I have no dinero whatsoever to pay this debt and they kept calling and sending me letters, I tried to send as much as I could but then I stopped because I had a baby and had no money coming in, they put a judgement against me and went to court and jacked up the amount. I recieved a letter about 2 months ago about them wanting the judge to put me in jail for 5 days for failure to fill out interogatorries sheet, I filled it out and sent it. The court date passed, I wasnt supposed to attend but I havent heard anything since,I have called them and they dont return my phone calls. I checked my credit report and it says charged off-- I dont know if they gave up or if something horrible will happen to me, any advice?
Credit card collection?
charged off means its in collections. You need to take care of your debt.
They will not give up till its paid

Pay your freakin bill while you have the chance, because they will get it, one way or the other!
Credit card collection?
If you have no money and no assets all they can do is mess up your credit rating. You have to answer any court documents, otherwise you will get the courts mad at you.
Other than court documents you do not have to answer them. They only have so much time to collect, otherwise the debt becomes noncollectable. Any time that you acknowledge a debt, the clock starts ticking again so do not acknowledge the debt except in a court.
Ten years from now you may get letters or calls on this debt. This is because the credit card company has sold the debt to someone else to collect. They will try to get you to send them something or to acknowledge that you owe the debt. As soon as you do, they can come after you again.

I would continue to try and contact them - judgments generally do not go away, but will report on your credit history.
I work in a different industry, so this may not be accurate for credit cards, but when we issue judgments, the go on public record and serve as liens - this affects your ability to to make major purchases or sales (cars, house, property, etc.). These do not go away. We might put it in an uncollectible status or put it as bad debt - but that basically means our collection efforts stop, but the debt doesn%26#039;t go away and will come up when you want a loan.

If you cant pay it, declare bankruptcy or flee the country.
or contact your bank and explain the situation. They might help if they arent too blood thristy for money.
However I strongly recommend this, in some countries its VERY illegal what they are doing, so check the law with a free citizen advice or something similar to see whether what they are doing is even legal.
